Olympic College is recruiting for a full-time, one-year, temporary Construction Trades Director to lead the planning, development and launch of a new Construction Trades Program for Olympic College in Kitsap and Mason Counties. Initial work location will be in Shelton, at the Olympic College Shelton campus.



OC is developing the new program in Shelton to meet the demands of local employers and students. Reporting to the Business and Technology Division Dean, the Construction Trades Director will bring content expertise and knowledge of the construction community as he or she develops career pathways for students. After planning, developing and implementing the program in Mason County, the program will also be developed in Kitsap County. The position may be extended or converted to a permanent position during the year.


 


Essential Functions


  • Develop partnerships with local building and trade associations

  • Establish a community construction trades advisory committee

  • Develop partners with the local school districts to provide streamlined construction trades pathways

  • Develop program and course curriculum, including learning assessments  

  • Determine specifications for equipment and shop

  • Promote program in the community

  • Meet with prospective students to provide program information

  • May teach introductory level courses as part of administrative assignment

  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required



 



Minimum Qualifications




  • Associate's Degree from an accredited College or University

  • Three (3) years' experience working in the construction trades.

  • Demonstrated success developing community partnerships

  • Basic level computer competency, including Microsoft Office applications


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University

  • Five (5) years' experience owning or managing a construction business

  • Experience teaching at the high school or college level

  • Demonstrate ethics, integrity and sound professional judgment



Terms of Employment:

This is a full-time, 12 month temporary exempt professional position contracted for 1 year from September 2, 2019 to August 31, 2020. The salary is $65,650 annually which will be prorated to reflect the remaining contract days during each fiscal year. The fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th. Olympic College provides an excellent benefits package which includes vacation, holiday & sick leave, medical/dental/vision/life insurance. This position will be based on the satellite campus in Shelton, Washington with occasional travel to Poulsbo and the main campus in Bremerton.
